2008-09 Boston Celtics Season

A Strong Start

The 2008-09 Boston Celtics season got off to a great start, as the team finished first in the NBA Atlantic Division with a record of 62-20. This was the team's first division title since the 2003-04 season.

Roster Changes

The Celtics made several roster changes in the offseason, most notably acquiring Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett in trades. These two All-Stars joined Paul Pierce to form a formidable "Big Three" that was expected to lead the Celtics to a championship.

Regular Season Success

The Celtics lived up to expectations during the regular season, finishing with the best record in the Eastern Conference. They were led by Pierce, who averaged 20.5 points per game, and Garnett, who averaged 18.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Allen also contributed, averaging 17.4 points per game.

Playoff Disappointment

Despite their regular season success, the Celtics were unable to win the NBA championship. They were defeated by the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals in six games. This was a disappointing end to a season that had been filled with so much promise.
